How Does VWBL Work?
An overview of how VWBL works.
Content creators mint VWBL NFTs which are linked to their digital content. By utilizing the VWBL protocol in parallel, the creator is able to then distribute access rights (decryption key) of that NFT on the VWBL Network. The VWBL NFT digital content will have a 'preview' for non-owners of the VWBL NFT as well as the encrypted content (available only for the owner of the VWBL NFT).
Ownership of the VWBL NFT can utilize the usual sale and transfer of rights (e.g. on marketplace platforms such as OpenSea) and is maintained on the blockchain of choice (ETH, MATIC, etc.).
System Flow of the VWBL Digital Media Protocol
Encrypting and Distributing Contents - the NFT Minter (Creators) Flow
1 - The content creator creates their digital creation (Step 0), and mints a VWBL NFT, which is linked to digital content
2 - During the minting process, a pair of split keys (symmetric) for encryption/decryption is generated via the VWBL Protocol, and encrypting the digital content

3a - The encrypted digital content is then uploaded to their file storage of choice, along with an unencrypted 'preview'
3b - The split key is sent to the VWBL Network for distributed storage in parallel
The encrypted digital data and raw preview data are uploaded to the file storage of choice, the decryption key is sent to the VWBL Network for distributed storage in parallel
Downloading and Decrypting - the NFT Owner's Flow
4 - The NFT is transferred from the creator to the new owner (such as via OpenSea, etc.)
5 - Upon accessing the NFT, the owner would request the decryption key to the VWBL Network
6/7 - The VWBL Network will validate the NFT owner on the corresponding blockchain

8a - Via the VWBL protocol, the VWBL Network will provide the owner the decryption key
8b - The NFT owner downloads the encrypted digital content from file storage
END - The digital content is then decrypted and accessed
The VWBL NFT is available to be decrypted/read by the NFT owner
For non-Owners of the VWBL NFT
- If a non-owner attempts to access the file, the file stays encrypted and only the preview data is available
Non-Owners are unable to access the unencrypted data
