About the VWBL Network
What the VWBL Network is - our vision and steps to get there.
VWBL Network has two roles.
- Manages the split key for decrypting digital content
- Verifies whether or not the decryption key requester has access control rights by referring to blockchain for ownership validation
We believe that a decentralized and distributed key management technology will enable creators and owners of NFT digital content true freedom of how to utilize their content.
VWBL Network will go through two primary phases:
Phase 1 - This system is production ready and is currently in use.
As a base, stable, proof of concept, the VWBL Network is initially a cloud server that centrally manages keys and verifies access rights. We plan to enhance application integrations and VWBL's reach while building out the VWBL Network as a decentralized network.
Phase 2 - Decentralized Network Vision - In Development
The future of VWBL Network will have distributed key management. The key cryptosystem is SSS(Shamir's Secret Sharing). With this key cryptosystem, a symmetric key used for encryption/decryption can be split to a [n of m] split key. A [n of m] split key can be restored by collecting n key fragments, which are managed via VWBL Network blockchain nodes. Each blockchain node holds only one distributed key fragment and verifies access control rights when decryption key request is received.
